We are excited to announce the release of Unified 2 Firmware version 2.83a, bringing a series of improvements, bug fixes, and new features to enhance your 3D printing experience. Here’s a breakdown of what’s new in this update:
Critical Fixes for Seamless Compiling
One of the primary issues addressed in this release was a compiling obstacle linked to the U8Glib-HAL library. Swiftly identifying and resolving this challenge on the same day, we want to assure our users that this was not a TH3D issue but a third-party library hiccup. To prevent such occurrences in the future, we’ve implemented a version lock on the library, ensuring tighter control over firmware compilation.
Enhanced Control Over Libraries
We’ve taken steps to bolster our control over third-party libraries by moving some of them to our dedicated GitHub repository. This strategic shift empowers us to manage and update libraries more effectively, reducing the likelihood of unforeseen library-related disruptions to the firmware that we’ve seen 2 times now over the last 6 months.
New Printer Support
In our continuous effort to expand compatibility, Unified 2 Firmware now supports the CRX-Pro model. Please note that this requires the LCD Kit for optimal functionality.
New Features
- Skew Correction: We’ve introduced skew correction to all configurations, enhancing print accuracy and quality.
- EZABL NG-8 Support: Ender 5 S1 printer users can now benefit from EZABL NG-8 support, provided they have the LCD Kit.
Improvements
- Reduced E Current: To mitigate excessive E temperatures, we’ve lowered the E current by 0.05A in TMC configurations.
- Advanced Features Overhaul: The Advanced Features section has undergone a complete revamp, making it more user-friendly and understandable across all configurations.
Bug Fixes
- E Max Speed Adjustment: Addressing stalling issues related to high retraction speeds, we’ve slowed down the E max speed on 2560 board configurations.
- U8glib-HAL Compile Issue Fix: Resolved compilation issues stemming from updates to U8glib-HAL by locking in version 0.5.2.
- EZBoard V2 Compile Issues: Fixed compilation problems on the EZFirmware site associated with the EZBoard V2.
Quality of Life Enhancements
- Version Information: Configuration.h files now display the version number at the top.
- Distribution Date: Configuration.h files also feature the distribution date at the top.
We appreciate your ongoing support and feedback. The TH3D Studio team is committed to refining and expanding the Unified 2 Firmware to meet the evolving needs of our community. As always, feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or encounter any issues.
Happy Printing!
