This is just the filament sensor and the 1 meter cable. EZOut adapter board NOT INCLUDED. Works with our EZOut V1 and V2 adapter boards.
These should NOT be plugged directly into your printers control board (unless you have an EZBoard as it supports this sensor). If you have a non-EZBoard printer you can get the full kits here for various printer models: EZOut V2 – Filament Sensor Kit or BL Touch Adapter Board

The instructions: “These should NOT be plugged directly into your printer’s control board,” should be amended to read that if you have the EZBoard/Lite, there is a place on the board to plug the EZOut filament sensor directly on the board. Still, I would like to have a picture just to double-check the orientation of the plug/wires.

Hi there, on the installation guide page here https://www.th3dstudio.com/knowledgebase/ezboard-installation-guide/ there are pictures showing the correct connection of a filament switch.

Is this a ‘normally closed’ or ‘normally open’ switch? What does the FIL_RUNOUT_INVERTING setting in Marlin needs to be set to?

Tim Hoogland –
These use FIL_RUNOUT_INVERTING false. This is just the sensor only and does not include technical support if you do purchase one and need help setting up your firmware. It is meant for use with our firmware and products where is it all pre-configured. You can also verify the correct setting with M119 to see if it is inverted or not when you get it connected.

Hi, just got this sensor and was wondering how do I mount it? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Tim Hoogland –
It’s just meant to sit on the filament. There are mounts but mounting sensors is more of a pain when it comes to loading filament than having it “hang out” on the filament itself. We don’t have any of ours mounted on any machines here. Thingiverse search for our sensor: https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=ezout+sensor&type=things&sort=relevant

Could someone explain why Teaching Tech plugged this sensor he linked right into the Ender 3 v2 board but on the page, it said not to do this?

You will short the board if you connect this sensor directly to the board. The kit for the Ender 3 V2 is this one: https://www.th3dstudio.com/product/ezout-pin-27-kit-for-creality-ender-3-ender-5-cr-10-standard-mini-s4-or-s5-v1-1-x-melzi-board-filament-senor-or-bl-touch/

Nathaniel Clifton –
Does this work with an SKR E3 Turbo, or would I need some adapter? And if so, which one?

Tim Hoogland (verified owner) –
You could re-pin the cable or we have a full kit that comes with an adapter to make sure the wiring matches what the SKR E3 Mini expects: EZOut for SKR E3 Mini
