Upgrade your printer to print exotic and high temp materials (up to 290C). Real all-metal assembly, even in the heatbreak, unlike other cheap hotends on the market.
Tips for Using This Hotend
- All Metal Heatbreak Information:Â Using your All Metal Hotend
- We recommend if you are getting jamming with PLA to print a filament oiler.
- Like this one:Â https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:492067. Stuff it with a sponge or fiber then lightly wet with CANOLA oil. This will oil the filament path and keep the PLA from sticking to the heatbreak on a longer retract.
- After using this for about a month or two your heatbreak should have a nice “seasoning” on the inside and use of an oiler will be needed less or not at all.
- Read the Using your All Metal Hotend article for more information

Part Fitment/Installation
This is a universal 3D printer part. That means it will work on almost any 3D printer (check your printer voltage and part voltage) with the correct mount for your specific machine. Thingiverse is a wonderful place to locate mounts and we also have printed parts in our shop for some universal parts.
It is up to you to determine and select a mount for your specific printer model (or design one) to install this part on your machine and wire it up to your machine (if applicable). You are welcome to Contact Us for recommendations for your particular printer model for mounting options that are available online if searching yourself does not yield any results.

After having issues with my stock hotend and wanting to reliably be able to print other material then PLA, I went with the TH3D V6 with the titanium heatbreak. Installation was quick and painless and I’ve had zero problems with it.
After reading the number of people who said all metal hotends had trouble with PLA I was afraid I’d experience clogs but taking the advice of using an oiler, I’m happy to say I haven’t had a single issue.
As long as you take the time to make sure it’s properly installed and your PID is correctly tuned, this is a great upgrade to have.

Question
mark Platt –
Can this be used as a direct replacement on the sovol sv-01 without the Bowden setup?

Tim Hoogland –
Yes, this will fit the SV01 in place of the stock hotend. They use a V6 style hotend like this one.

I have had no problems with this hotend. I have mine mounted with the e3d v6 pets fang mount and a 5015 blower fan. I’ve been printing tons of prints and I have had no clog at all. I printed the oiler but I haven’t used it yet. All calibrations test pass and PID auto tune holds temp very well. I am very happy with this Hotend.

Definitely not a required upgrade for my Ender 3, but well worth it, especially if you want to convert to direct drive and eliminate long bowden tubes.
Test the resistance of the heater core before installing everything. I didn’t check before installing and my printer was faulting for thermal runaway. One of the crimped wires that connected to the heater cartridge wasn’t making contact. Slid the insulation back, re-crimped the connectors, fixed the insulation, added a some Kaplon tape and she was up and runnin.
Zero issues printing PLA, PETG, etc. I haven’t had to oil the hotend after swapping filament types, yet.
At the price point I recommend the upgrade.

Question
scorpsroom –
I do not see the CR-10 V2 or V3 listed as compatible. Can it be used on these printers? What would I have to do to make it work (I.E. mods printed and Firmware changes)
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Tim Hoogland –
This is a universal part so if you have a mount to put it on the X carriage (check thingiverse for V6 type mounts), then you can install it on the CR-10 V2/V3. There are no firmware changes needed for the heater and thermistor (it uses the same heater type and thermistor type as the stock hotend). Depending on the mount you select, you may need to change the XY home offsets if it moves the nozzle from the stock nozzle location.

Question
athattarath (verified owner) –
Does this use a 5015 fan?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Tim Hoogland –
You can use one if the mount you choose has a 5015 layer fan option. The Heavy Duty V6 and the HeroMe use a 5015. We also carry 5015 fans in 12V and 24V here.

Question
athattarath (verified owner) –
Can you use the stock Creality Ender 5 carriage/mount with this hotend? Also, thank you for answering my other question.
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Tim Hoogland –
You can use the stock carriage but will need a hotend mount to attach to the carriage. Mounts like the HeroMe can do this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4460970
If you cannot print the parts due to a mechanical issue or other issues we do not sell the HeroMe parts pre-printed we do accept print requests through our Contact page if you select “Print Farm” as the department and provide the STL files you want to be printed.

Question
athattarath (verified owner) –
Would my Ender 5 firmware be compatible with the new hotend and heater block provided in the kit?

Tim Hoogland –
Yes, it uses the same thermistor and 40W heater that the Creality hotends use.

Question
Mike Guderjohn (verified owner) –
I just bought this, and printing the parts for my Ender 3, with the EZ Board (I bought it a couple weeks ago.) So I’ve gone to the Unified Firmware link to make a firmware for that board.
In the description here it says to “Use Marlin #1 Thermistor Setting (Creality Printers and Anet use #1 by default)” then follows it with this: “Added option in Unified Firmware for these and all TH3D Thermistors” The software config has an option for the TH3d thermistors, but also has the Creality thermistor as the first choice.
So I HAVE to ask, which do I use? This is kind of confusing, since the product page says 2 conflicting things.
I selected the TH3D thermistor, but I sat on that decision for a good 10 minutes until I finally made a choice. Hopefully I don’t burn anything up.

Thanks Tim. I’m building the Hero Me ducting as we speak, and then hopefully testing everything out sometime later today. Need to take a break with all the fiddly stuff, right now. Old age, bad eyes and arthritis in the hands not helping matters one bit… 🙂

Tim Hoogland –
It uses #1 if using Marlin (not our version) or the TH3D Thermistor option (which also sets #1 in the backend).

Well machined, easy to assemble with a plethora of assembly guides and instructions on the web. Heats up even faster than stock, and with the heavy duty mount is still light enough that it doesnt affect travel at all! I recommend also getting the silicone sock set.

Arrived, a day earlier than expected. Well packaged and well labelled, no guessing which part was what voltage. Installation video was concise and to the point. Total install less than an hour including soldering the heater and thermistor, and printing perfect on first print…. My printer is quickly becoming a TH3E E16…..

This took a bit of time for me to install properly but now that I have it done I am so happy. Just remember to set our retraction to no more than 3 mm, though 2mm is prefered. I would recommend pairing this with the high temp tough tubing, titanium heat break, and heavy duty mount. Bear in mind the mount would also require a 5015 layer fan and should also use the CR10s old fan as its 40mm instead of the 30mm thats included on this system.
Amazing support from the community and TH3D which helped me fix all my problems !
11 out of 10, will purchase from again!

Question
Sage Daniel –
Will this work on Ender3V2?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Tim Hoogland –
This is a universal part. Meaning that if you have a printed mount to attach to the printer carriage it will bolt up to virtually any printer. Thingiverse has a lot of community-made mounts and any that work with a V6 style hotend will work with this one.
